PhD Students

With a background in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering, I design and maintain data management frameworks: data flow automation (Powershell), processing (R programming language), storage and backup (NAS) and server deployment in the cloud (AWS Elastic Computing (EC2) services). I am currently pursuing a PhD in analytical processing tools for tandem mass spectrometry.

MSc in Biomedical Electronics. I develop software tools to process Mass Spectrometry Imaging data. My main research interests are peak annotation (i.e. matrix-related signals, in-source fragments) and the registration of MSI to other imaging modalities (i.e. Vibrational Spectroscopy Imaging, H&E histopathology, MRI).

Muhammad Faizan Khan, from Pakistan, has done a Master's in Computer Science from GIKI. His thesis title was "Fixed-Point optimization of fully convolutional networks". After his master's, he got a job at Pakistan National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation as a Team Lead in the Artificial intelligence LAB.
Project Name: A deep learning approach for identifying metabolites by mass spectrometry-based metabolomics

Chemist specialized in applied chromatographic techniques. Currently doing my PhD in the Toxicology and Environmental Metabolomics research line led by Noelia Ramírez. My thesis focuses on the study of third-hand smoke (THS), specifically on how it affects at an early age and what level of concentration children are exposed, developing chromatographic methods (UHPLC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS / MS ) for your analysis.

Graduate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology now I am a PhD Student involved in metabolomics. My research is focused on advanced metabolomics applied to colorectal cancer. I am involved in gas-chromatography/mass spectrometry for volatile compounds following her interests in clinical metabolomics and in the developing of new computation methods for data analysis.

Following my diploma in pharmacy from Algeria, I completed master degree in Bio-analytical chemistry from Hochschule Fresenius in Germany. Currently, I am doing my PhD studies in mass spectrometry imaging. my research work is focused on analytical method development and sample preparation based on evaporation process for MALDI mass spectrometry imaging of biological samples

PhD student since 2017, studying the chemical crosstalk between host epigenetics and gut microbiota in a mouse model. Combining mass spectrometry, Next Generation Sequencing technologies and R to dissect the molecular biology behind the complex host/microbiota relationship.

Graduated Biochemist and Bioinformatic analyzing omics data at the Metabolomics Platform using R and Python. Starting my PhD focused on metabolomics data analysis, multi-omics data integration and the development of new tools to analyze data and bring closer data analysis with biology.

PhD student since 2018 involved in software development for mass spectrometry imaging. Currently assessing the potential of soft clustering in mass spectrometry imaging and improving peak annotation tools.
