Maria Vinaixa Crevillent Graduated in Chemistry (URV, 2002) and PhD in Electronic Engineering (URV, 2008), my broad research interest leads to translational metabolomics and biomedical data science. My scientific career has been devoted to advance metabolomics technologies with special emphasis on computational metabolomics. My research has been structured around two main directions: (i) development of new computational tools, technologies, concepts and paradigms to drive metabolomics to a functional genomics tool; (ii) application of metabolomics to the study of fundamental biological processes in health and disease (particularly diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer); environmental health and synthetic biology. Óscar Yanes Torrado After receiving my Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry (UAB, 2006) I became Research Associate in Gary Siuzdak's lab (Scripps Research, California). Since 2011, I am the scientific coordinator of the Metabolomics Platform (CIBERDEM) and Assistant Professor (URV). I also coordinate the Spanish Metabolomics Network (MetaboRed), and preside the Spanish Metabolomics Society (SESMet). I have long experience in developing new technologies, analytical methods, computational tools and applications in LC-MS, GC-MS and NMR-based metabolomics. My research focuses on understanding metabolic dysregulations in disease through integrating mass spectrometry (MS)-based metabolomics with omic technologies. Xavier Domingo Almenara Dr. Domingo-Almenara received PhD in Bioengineering (2016) from the Rovira i Virgili University (URV). After a postdoctoral research stage at Scripps Research (California, 2017-2019), he became a Principal Investigator at the Technology Centre of Catalonia (Eurecat) and since 2025 is an Associate Professor at URV. He has been PI of projects funded by agencies like the Spanish Research Agency (AEI), "La Caixa" Foundation, or the European Commission. He has been PI of an AGAUR's Consolidated Research Group, and has supervised two PhD theses. His work integrates bioinformatics and analytical chemistry to develop computational methods for studying metabolism using mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. Pere Ràfols Soler PhD in technologies to apply mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) at metabolomics studies. I contribute to the development of methods targeted to the detection of low-weight compounds in MSI with very high lateral resolution and non-interfering MS signals. I am the main developer of two well-known R packages targeted to MSI data-analysis: rMSI and rMSIproc. Likewise, I am focused to improve the MSI data handling, spectral pre-processing, automated peak annotation and statistical analysis to allow a fast and robust data interpretation.
